The Establishment of an Integration Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children

Since March 10, 2003 together with "Eurasia" foundation, the progarm called "The Establishment of an Integration Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children" has been implemented. "Euarasia" founadation greatly contributed to the initiation of the centre's activities. The goal of the establishment of the centre is to improve the socialization process of the children. The program enviasages the children's oral speech development, a process of mastering computer skills. These activities will form the continuation of the material, mediacal, pedagogical and psycological aid, provided both for the children and thir parents. The integration centre initiated its activities in 2003.

  • Trainings conducted by the sourdo-pedagogues of the centre with the speech therapists and padagogue parents in the regions (Armavir, Goris, Gavar, Vamadzor, Stepanavan, Efgegmnadzor, Sisian), in order to introduce to them the new methods and skills in the sphere of oral speech development, so that they will be able to develop the oral speech of the children just there, in their towns and villages.
  • 20 children of pre-school age suffering from different types of hearing defect take training courses of oral speech development with speech therapists twice a week.
  • Trainings in separate groups with the psycholgist, for hard of hearing children attending school and the mothers of hard of hearing children of pre-school age.
  • 12 hard of haering children attending comprehensive schools paricipate the training courses of mastering computer skills and office tecniques. The The classes are arranged in 2 groups, each group attending the courses twice a week.
  • A film dedicated to the activities of the centre is being shot.
  • Periodical evaluation of the activities performed.

Due to the contributions of the UNESCO foundation the NGO has procured computer and office techniques; computers, laser printers, a fax machine and a scaner. All this was done within the frameworks of the program "The Establishment of an Integration Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children".

The First Alumnae of the Computer Courses

Workshops in different regions of Armenia are conducted within the frameworks of the program "The Establishment of an Integration Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children".
